The Ambassador's Residence
The Ambassadors residence is located in the Gyldenløvesgate in Oslo, right across the main entrance to the world-famous Vigeland Park. From all over the world people come to visit this park to see the unique statues made by Gustav Vigeland.
The residence was built in 1907 by order of the shipowner Simonsen. Architect Karl Høie designed the building. The two storey residence has white stucco walls and exhibits classical Italian, but also neo-baroque elements. All of the windows have shutters, which is an unusual feature in Norway.
Since 1944 the Dutch Government has the Building in use as the residence of the Dutch representative in Norway.
