Children

On this page you will find information about applying for a passport or ID-card for a minor. Please note that all applicants (this includes minors) have to appear at the Embassy in Oslo in person.

First-time application

If it is the first time you apply for a passport for your child or the first time the child is entered in the passport of a parent, please bring along the following documents:

  • Birth certificate (if Norwegian, provided with an apostille stamp)
  • The parents marriage certificate (if Norwegian, provided with an apostille stamp) or,
  • Paternity proof, if the parents are not married (if Norwegian, provided with an apostille stamp)
  • A passport photo of the child. Please note the criteria for this photo
  • The passport or ID-card of both parents
  • If one of the parents is not present with the application, please bring a written approval for the application from that parent

 

Second or further applications

For the second or further application of a passport for your child or the re-entering of a child in the passport of a parent, please bring along the following documents:

  • The current passport
  • If the current passport is missing: a police record
  • A passport photo of the child. Please note the criteria for this photo
  • The passport or ID-card of both parents
  • If one of the parents is not present with the application, please bring a written approval for the application from that parent

Approval parents/guardians

In the following cases the approval of both parents/guardians is required for the application of a new passport or ID-card:

  • The application for a new passport for a minor until the age of 17
  • The application for an ID-card for a minor until the age of 12
